1) Black Rock
What is it?
The world's largest investment manager, with offices in 27 countries worldwide.
What assets does it manage?
Assets under management are US $3.345 trillion (as of Sept 30 2011). Blackrock invests in equity, fixed income, cash management, alternative investment, real estate and advisory strategies.
What does it offer?
Summer internships: 10 weeks long. Applications are now open. Their aim is to provide experience to high-potential degree students in their penultimate year, who are expected to get at least a 2:1. Jobs available are Technology and Business Operations, Alternative Advisors, Global Client Group, Portfolio Management Group, Risk and Quantitative Analysis. Graduate programme: Looking for talented individuals with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent. Training and support given for CFA exam and (in UK) IMC exam. 2) State Street Global Advisors
What is it?
The world's second largest asset manager, operating in 25 countries.
What assets does it manage?
As of September 30, 2011, State Street Global Advisors have assets under management of US $1.877 trillion. They are a multi-manager working across various investment strategies and products.
What does it offer?
Summer internships: They are looking for students with "a knowledge of and/or interest in financial services who have demonstrated strong academic performance and intellectual curiosity". If you are selected, you will be assigned to a business area that they consider is most suitable. These areas can include Sales and Marketing, Investment Management, Legal and Compliance, Human Resources, Research, Operations, and Information Technology. Apply here.
Graduate programme: They are looking for students with a degree (2.2) in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related discipline. The jobs are all in Ireland, and applications are now open. Opportunities are available in Fund Accounting Derivatives/Pricing, Transfer Agency Financial Reporting, Tax Trustee Services, and Custody. 3) Allianz Global Investors
What is it?
One of the top 5 investment management companies, worldwide.
What assets does it manage?
It has US $2 trillion in assets under management (as of December 31, 2010). They use all major equity and fixed-income investment styles, as well as balanced products and alternative investments.
What does it offer?
Internships/ Graduate programme: Very little info is available online about Allianz Global Investors' campus programmes, except that they exist, and that if you are interested in applying for one you should apply to the Human Resources Dept of your preferred location. Apply here.
4) Fidelity Investments
What is it?
One of the largest mutual fund and financial services groups worldwide.
What assets does it manage?
It has US $231.6 billion assets under management. They invest in equities, bonds, funds and property companies.
What does it offer?
Summer internships: Applications open until 31st December 2011. Jobs available in Investment. The internships are apparently like a "pipeline" to the graduate programme after graduation. Apply here.

5) Baillie Gifford
What is it?
Baillie Gifford is one of the UK's leading independently owned investment management firms. It is owned and run by 36 of its senior executives who operate as a partnership.
What assets does it manage?
As at 30 September 2011 Baillie Gifford managed more than 66bn (US$103bn). It invests in charitable funds, investment trusts, retail funds and joint ventures
What does it offer?
Summer internships: They have internships in Investment Management, and the application deadline is 29th February 2012. The vacancies are based in the main office in Edinburgh.Apply here.

6) Schroders
What is it?
Schroders is a British asset management company based in London
What assets does it manage?
Schroders has 182.2bn in assets under management. They invest in equities, fixed income and alternatives.
What does it offer?
Summer internships: Applications for the 2012 Summer Internship Programme will open in January 2012. They are looking for people who are strong academically, who are from any degree discipline and any year, as long as you can demonstrate an interest in Investment Management. Apply here.
Graduate programme: Graduate Trainee Analyst roles are available in the Equities, Fixed Income and Multi Asset Departments. It involves work and training; including taking the Investment Management Certificate Exam and CFA level I qualification. They look for graduates with a strong academic record, including a 2:1 honours degree or above/equivalent. Applications are now open, and will close on Friday 18th November at 5pm!! Apply here.
