Lunchtime Links: Look - the word's third largest fund of hedge funds is hiring in London. And, does this mean Wells Fargo will hire here too?

As an antidote to sad stories about hiring freezes and eurobonds, we'd like to point out where some hiring is happening.

Hiring is going on, right now, at Grosvenor Capital Management, the world's third largest fund of hedge funds. According to Financial News, Grosvenor has turned up in London and employed Andre Plessis, a former head of the emerging markets division at HSBC, to recruit some more people. Plessis is apparently on the look out for new hires for its institutional and distribution teams.

Separately, could Wells Fargo's rescue of 24 investment bankers from Citadel's failed securities arm be a prelude to hiring in Europe? No one seems to know. Bloomberg reports that all the Citadel MDs hired by Wells are in the US. And Kevin Corcoran, an MD at Wells Fargo's London office, said there's been no indication that anyone will be coming over from Citadel in Europe.

"We have been hiring slowly in London," Corcoran tells us, "But we are a very US-centric bank. No one wants to make a mistake in a jurisdiction they don't understand. We are being very, very deliberate."
