Late Lunchtime Links: The 7m risk officer

Not only are risk officers immune to redundancy. They are also becoming incredibly well paid.

Bloomberg reports that Morgan Stanley paid its chief risk officer $12.1m (7m) for 2010 - more than any other executive at the bank. By comparison, Brian Moynihan received $1.94m last year.

It is all about risk post credit crunch. The thing is, there is nothing any risk officer can do. The entire financial system has not changed. There is nothing to prevent the same thing happening again.

Leverage down and build a more robust system. But that would cut into your profits whilst your rival plough ahead.

Just another fad...., risk is now the buzz word... oh well, look forward to the next....
