Lunchtime Links: Some very large hiring is coming at Citigroup, UBS hiring less exciting than we thought
Fear not: UBS is not the only place hiring. Citigroup is hiring too.
Who is Citigroup hiring? 500 people globally for its Institutional Clients Unit according to Bloomberg, which has had an email on the subject. Bloomberg says this includes investment banking, trading, transaction processing and the private bank, although the Financial Times has got the same story and says the hiring will be mostly investment bankers and traders.
Separately, Financial News suggests UBS's hiring might not have been as exciting as we hoped. Of the 768 additions to UBS's investment banking headcount last quarter, it says 613 were internal transfers. At the same time, however, 280 investment bankers were shunted off to the private bank. Net new external headcount was therefore 435, which was more than titillating but far from awe inspiring.
