Lunchtime Links: Nick Clegg on bankers - ''I want to wring the neck of these wretched people''

Following the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords, it's become unacceptable for politicians to use language alluding to physical violence in the US. That message doesn't seem to have reached the UK. In an interview this morning on BBC Radio Sheffield, Nick Clegg declared that he'd like to "wring" bankers' necks.

Understandably, Clegg's statement has been lost in the coverage of the Japanese earthquake. It's another indication, however, that as their popularity and morale slide, the Lib Dems are going to convene around banker-bashing as their most likely means of revival.
