Looks like Deutsche pays its senior staff incredibly well, to the possible detriment of everyone else

In its compensation report yesterday, Deutsche revealed that it had paid its 168 'regulated employees' - the equivalent of UK code staff - an average of €3.9m (3.38m) per head.

This looks distinctly generous. BarCap paid its 231 code staff around 2.4m each. RBS paid them 1m each; HSBC paid them 785k each.

It also suggests that Deutsche really is a good payer after all.

This isn't the first time that Deutsche has been credited with abnormal generosity.

Deutsche's pay per head in its corporate and investment bank comes in at €355k (a 2% increase on last year), which towers above other bulge brackets.

Until now, however, this has been thought to be a misnomer: Deutsche's pay per head figures at the corporate and investment bank are widely considered skewed by the fact that a lot of back office staff serving the investment bank are classified under the 'corporate centre.'

Deutsche's incredibly generous payments for its 'regulated employees' suggest it genuinely might pay more than everyone else - at the senior level at least. This may not extend down the hierarchy, however. Deutsche's payments for junior M&A staff don't appear to be industry beating. And as we noted yesterday, their bonus deferrals kick in at just €75k.

@trader32 DB code staff are on a global basis, as are Barcap and RBS. The HSBC figures are for UK staff, but for comparison, it has identified 280 'code staff' globally, paying them an average of around 1m each.

@sarah or anyone else.....So does the report state DB have 168 "regulated employees" or "code staff" globally? or just in the UK?........ I presume the figures for DB, Barcap and RBS are for the number of "code staff" present in the Bank globally... especially considering the figures!
