Late Lunchtime Links: How much is Nomura paying Benoit Savoret?

What's strange is that it took so long. Having left Macquarie after just one month last April, Benoit Savoret has only just turned up at Nomura. There, he will be joint global head of equities.

Nomura looks like Savoret's natural home. He was at Lehman for 11 years, where he was most recently COO. Savoret famously managed to negotiate a guaranteed $16.2m bonus three days before Lehman went bankrupt after threatening to leave and being bought back.

Now Savoret has returned to the ex-Lehman fold. Headhunters claim complete ignorance regarding the sum required to lure him there. However, one suggests he's probably come on a base salary only given he appears to have been out of the market for nearly a year. Nomura declined to comment.

Savoret should have only been on a base, but given he has been hired by his ex-Lehman fellow Jesse, who appears to be milking Nomura for all it is worth, Savoret is probably on a massive guarantee. What is worse is that the changes mean that we lose Rachid, who built the Lehman Equities platform and has now made Nomura's equities platform into a powerhouse as well. Seems as though all the smart competent people at Nomura leave (like Sadeq Sayeed).
