It looks like HR people are the worst paid in the entire financial services industry

We have been guilty of claiming that HR people in investment banks are reasonably well paid. Maybe we have been wrong.

Not long ago, we reported on a survey suggesting the average HR salary is now 54.5k and the average HR bonus 9.8k.

Prior to that, we proposed there are some HR people in the City earning 500k and that HR are 'empowered.'

How mistaken we may have been.

New data elicited from our annual compensation survey, (based on an admittedly small sample of 14 HR persons and 3,000 others), suggests HR & Recruitment people are the worst paid in the entire City, with median total compensation of a mere 42.3k, compared to 106k in the front office.

Even worse, our small sample suggests HR persons can do little to improve their lot: at 52k, their mean compensation isn't much higher than median. Even the average 'operations' professional is better paid.

HR drones shouldn't get paid anywhere near 50k. Although some are quite fit to look at they are completely useless in a business environment.

Hedge funds seem to do very well without the mindless HR drones who are just a GBLT(and not sure) ruse.

If this is the standard of discussion on this website better it is removed, what utter juvenile rubbish.
As for this article on HR pay, I have earned in excess of 600K a year for the last decade as a senior HR. The reality is the vast majority of people have no clue what companies pay. Wake up and smell the coffee chaps... perhaps your HR person knows something you don't where pay is concerned. As for the impressive survey of 14 people...please... are you really struggling to find something to write about that you publish this nonsense?

Bernhard - Because people lie on their Twitter and Linked In accounts. And most people keep their details private because they expect to be called by a headhunter who knows the market for relevant roles.
