Here's who won the student trading competition

French and English Students seized the winning places in the latest eFinancialCareers Investment Challenge, sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In a coup for Francophiles, 8 of the 20 finalists were studying at French universities. In the Autumn Challenge the top finalists were all at English schools.

The students invested a fantasy 10m in the European Stock market (London, Frankfurt, Madrid and Euronext). Nearly 2,500 took part, from over 400 universities and business schools in over 25 countries around Europe. They had one month to boost their equity portfolio, with the best achieving a massive 37% increase in its value.

The results were as follows:

2012 year group winners:

1st place: Teh Han Ming from LSE (wins 150)

final portfolio value 12,775 350 (gain of 28%).

2nd place: Chen Wong from LSE (wins 100)

final portfolio value 11,780 623 (gain of 18%).

3rd place: Man Kit Michael Lo from Imperial College London (wins 50)

final portfolio value 11,214 232 (gain of 12%).

2013 year group winners:

1st place: Thomas Lane from Warwick University (wins 150 plus a guaranteed place

at Bank of America Merrill Lynch Spring Insight Week at Easter 2011)

final portfolio value of 13,699 874 (37% gain).

2nd place: Maxime Gohin from EDHEC in France (wins 100) final portfolio value

of 10,757 850 (8% gain).

3rd place: Guillaume Gratias from HEC Paris (wins 50)

final portfolio value of 10,757 286 (8% gain).

The award for the best placed female in the 2013 year group

which goes to a student from Queen's University Belfast, Ligia Mladin, who finished with a portfolio value of 10,416 109 (4% gain). She wins a guaranteed place at Bank of America Merrill Lynch Spring Insight Week at Easter 2011.
