Yes, there ARE still some full-time positions for 2011
Now that we're into 2011, the prospect of a full-time analyst position in an investment bank this year should, theoretically be a distant memory. However, there are still graduate positions available.
While the front office positions have been snapped up rather quickly - predominantly by internship conversions - some of the support functions have proved hard to fill.
Deadlines for technology roles, in particular, have been extended into the new year. This is in part down to the fact that banks have been increasing headcount in this area, and also because they're competing against other industries for computer science graduates, whose numbers have been dwindling since 2006.
Still, because computer science students constitute the largest proportion of unemployed graduates in the UK, you'd have thought many would have looked towards banking.
There's also the possibility that the government's immigration caps could be causing problems in this sector, which relies on a large proportion of talent from outside the EU.
Banks have also increasingly been near-shoring operations functions - to places like Bournemouth, Glasgow and Dublin - so perhaps these are now proving something more of a hard sell to students than was the case previously.
Anyway, here are the banks with full-time graduate positions for 2011:
