How would you go about forecasting the tyre replacement market?

Student's Answer:

Look at the causes of tyre replacement: general wear and tear and accidents. Look at estimates of what proportion of the tyre market each cause accounts for.

Look at the legislation implemented in the particular market around maintenance of vehicles.

Look at weather conditions and other external factors.

Question:

The role you are applying for requires a lot of dedication and long hours. How do you intend to keep yourself motivated?

Student's Answer:

When you work long hours it helps if you enjoy what you do and you enjoy the company of the people you work. This is especially important in IBD as it is very much a collaborative environment. Try to also think of the bigger picture i.e the client and the effect your work has on the performance of your division.

Talk to me about a recent transaction that HSBC has advised on and why it was interesting.
