This is what you were supposed to have been paid for 2009

2009's payday may seem as distant as the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth the Second, but it is more significant. What you were paid last year will determine what you are paid this year. If you were paid less than your peers last year, the precedent has been sadly set.

Handily, therefore, here are Michael Page's suggestions for what people ought to have earned in the 2009 bonus round (paid in early 2010). We are not vouching totally for their accuracy (the salaries look at a bit low and some of the categories are unclear). These figures are a benchmark though - read and (possibly) weep.

    The ranges are huge on the bonus front - e.g. CF / M&A Associate 30% to 120%. Meaningless

    @Quant - sorry, I don't know. They're not our figures. I suspect it's fudged and includes both.

    Amazing that the head of equity research is right at the top consider mean/variance adjusted salary....More amazing because developed market equities are not giving much returns and developing market equities are giving exceptional returns even without doing deep research...so I guess this is where the banks can adjust their salaries to get greater value for their money..Looks like the bench mark portfolios have been fudged.
