Calgary Energy/Agriculture Investment Bank Startup Plots Hiring Strategy
AltaCorp Capital, the Calgary-based startup investment bank founded by George Gosbee, continues to hire.
Focusing on clients in energy, agriculture and biotech, the firm brought on banker Chris Gindl to focus on energy services. Gindl joined from Tarpon Energy Services, where he worked since 2008.
Gosbee plans to have between 30 to 40 employees working when he officially opens the bank.
"You'll see (AltaCorp) grow close to 50 by the end of year two," says Gosbee.
AltaCorp means to adopt the energy advisory models Gosbee's built and apply them to agriculture as well. AltaCorp also will focus on technology sub-sectors that intersect with energy and agriculture, such as biofuel, biotech and alternative energy.
The firm will provide merger and acquisition services and handle property acquisitions and divestitures, equity financing, institutional sales and research.
