Front office VP salaries are a lot higher than 98k
According to Astbury Marsden, salaries for VP-level staff in investment banks have risen to an average of 97.5k this year, up from 82.3k last year.
However, these figures look a little low.
Last year, we reported that front office salaries for VPs were anything up to 140k.
One corporate finance headhunter tells us that his research suggests VPs in M&A can expect the following salaries at the following banks:
Deutsche Bank: 100-150k
Goldman Sachs: 160-220k
JPMorgan: c120k
Morgan Stanley 100-160k
UBS: 150-200k
"The average is more like 130k," he says.
Jonathan Nicholson, managing director of Astbury Marsden, says their figures are mostly derived from their experience of placing people in the middle office.
"Our focus is middle and back office functions rather than pure front office," he divulges. "We cover mid-ranking technology, risk, finance and trade support roles."
