Jobs coming at Saracen Fund Managers
Glasgow-based investment management boutique Saracen has ambitious expansion plans and looks likely to provide job opportunities for both analysts and fund managers as it moves its operation to Edinburgh.
The firm is undergoing a period of major change, as Graham Campbell, co-founder of Edinburgh Partners who left in 2009, prepares to take a major equity stake and take over as chief executive.
The business will move to the Scottish capital, according to a report in the Herald, and has plans to expand its range of funds. In the pipeline are absolute return and income funds.
The result is that the firm intends to recruit a number of analysts and fund managers.
Investment director Craig Yeaman told us that the firm has "identified some key people", but that it was too early in the process to give further details about job numbers and types of expertise required.
He did say, however, that he anticipates identifying these key people from the local market.
Saracen's move to Edinburgh is also representative of the broader shift of fund managers away from Glasgow, with only Ignis Asset Management to be left as a major player in Scotland's biggest city.
"There is greater access to companies and there is a much stronger financial community (in Edinburgh) and there have been many start-ups over the last few years," Campbell told the Herald.
