An interesting opportunity has arisen for anyone able to combine exceptional cooking ability with the capacity for delivering good investment returns: Nicola Horlick is hiring a chef.

Financial News reports that Horlick wants the 'quality chef' for a new restaurant venture, 'Georgina's' in Barnes, West London. We suppose she will be hiring waiters and waitresses too.

Horlick's star has fallen since the management of her Bramdean Alternatives fund was handed to Aberdeen Asset Management last year. However, having worked in fund management since 1983 and gained a fearsome reputation in the process, she remains a big name in the UK fund management world. Would-be kitchen staff will therefore gain access to an asset management icon and her likely buyside clientele. It could prove an invaluable networking opportunity. Failing that, there will be ample opportunity to chop onions.
