Lunchtime Links: 'Coincidentally', BarCap's redundancies do exactly match the number of people it's supposed to be hiring in Scotland

We may reading a little too much into this, but does seem at least slightly eerie that the number of BarCap redundancies being mooted by Bloomberg correspond exactly to the number of jobs we understand it's creating in Glasgow (300).

A spokesman for BarCap declined to comment on whether the two things are really related, but pointed out that the proposed job cuts are 'global.' This is not entirely unsurprising: according to our sources, BarCap's Scottish operations hub will perform functions currently carried out in London, New York and Singapore. Global redundancies would make sense then.
