Late Lunchtime Links: Equities hiring still seems very hot; rumours of big pay at Jefferies

According to analysts at Nomura, 'clean' equities revenues fell by an average of 45% quarter-on-quarter and 38% year-on-year across JPMorgan, Bank of America and Citigroup.

This doesn't appear to be discouraging equities-related hiring.

Financial News reports that Berenberg Bank, Germany's oldest private bank, wants to hire 25 equity research and sales people in London. During last week's conference call, Citigroup identified equities as an area of growth. And now Jefferies has announced four equity research hires in London and five equity sales and research hires in the US.

We also have it on very good authority that Jefferies is bringing on a senior equities programme trader from UBS in the US, to be based in London. "He's been hired on big package," claims one headhunter. "I'd say $2m plus."
