"There are no poor headhunters in commodities search."

Where should you be focusing if you're working in headhunting in London these days? Try commodities. According to various headhunters of headhunters, this is where all the action is.

"I'm conducting four different searches for senior commodities headhunters," says James Gardner of recruitment to recruitment firm Gardner Associates. "A lot of search firms are trying to build up in the broad energy sector."

Those particular search firms are said to include the likes of Kinsey Allen, Hamilton Bradshaw, New Millennium Group, and Hanover Search & Selection.

Would-be commodities headhunters should also take note of the fact that the sector appears to be abnormally well paid.

"There are no poor headhunters in commodities search," says Ben Hicks another headhunter of headhunters at Executive Search Associates. "A good, but not prolific biller in commodities should be walking home with 180k a year. It's an area where you either bill a lot, or you get out altogether."

London's most highly renowned commodities headhunters include the likes of Ben Pink at DNA and Paul Crispin at Principal Search.

"There are a number of individuals working in commodities headhunting who are billing $1.3-$1.4m a year," Gardner tells us.
