Late Lunchtime Links: 48k new candidates chasing 27k new positions in London this year

Morgan McKinley's latest monthly stats are out today. As ever in recent times, they are immensely cheering: Morgan McKinley estimates that new financial services positions in the City of London were up 82% year on year in May 2010 compared to May 2009.

In total, Morgan McKinley thinks 27k new jobs were created in London between January and May. This is good news, even though Morgan McKinley also thinks there are 1.8 new candidates appearing for every new job created. New candidate numbers soared in April, after bonus cheques were cleared. They remained (surprisingly) high in May.
