Lunchtime-ish Links: Several banks intend to double their headcount in Australia

While the world crumbles in the face of electoral stasis and high frequency trading, banks are at least hiring in Australia.

Bloomberg wrote earlier this week that Nomura plans to "double its headcount" in Australia over the next two years, to more than 50 from 30 currently. Moelis & Co is also thinking of doubling its Australian workforce. And Merrill Lynch is hiring vigorously in Australia too.

The enthusiasm for recruitment in Australia follows a recent report suggesting that the British will account for 23% of all the people working in Australia's financial services industry by the end of this year.
