Who won and who lost in Q1?
Information on banks' Q1 European revenues across all investment banking, and ECM, DCM and M&A in particular, is now available.
The figures, from Dealogic, show an interesting dynamic, with the biggest players like JPMorgan and Goldman losing market share as rivals like Credit Suisse and Barclays Capital gain.
JPMorgan lost in most areas, but waned most dramatically in ECM. Goldman Sachs lost dramatically in European M&A; Morgan Stanley gained massively - thanks, in no small part, to its role on the Cadbury's deal. Notably, BofA Merrill didn't even make it into the European M&A top ten.
The figures in the charts below cover the period from January 1st to April 7th 2010, and the comparable period in 2009.
