Lunchtime Links: Barclays Wealth is recruiting 650 people and can't find the staff
Barclays Wealth wants to hire. As we have noted before, it's investing 350m in the business over the next two years, and wants to double the number of wealth managers it employs.
The only rock on the route to success appears to be the fact that Barclays Wealth can't find enough of the right people to recruit. Wealth Bulletin reports that Tom Kalaris, its chief executive, has been complaining about the "shallow" talent pool in the market. According to Kalaris, it is this, more than anything else, which is the biggest, "risk in executing the plan."
There are also some numbers as a reminder of just how ambitious Barclays Wealth is being on hiring: it wants to increase its headcount to 1,300 from 650 currently.
