Lunchtime Links: Another 230 financial services jobs for Asia
If you're based in London and you get the impression you're in the wrong city, you may be right. When banks announce big hiring these days, it's almost always elsewhere, with Asia the favoured location.
Today it emerges that Citigroup intends to hire 200 people in Singapore across corporate finance, private banking and 'consumer'' sectors. Equally, BofA Merrill has plans to add 30 corporate bankers in Asia.
On a separate, but related note, the Financial Times notes that the City of London is discontinuing its sponsorship of the Global Financial Centres Index and postulates that this may be because London is no longer in first place and is losing ground to the likes of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.
