To seasoned i-bankers who grouse about joblessness:

Ever considered quitting as an employee to seed your own financial services practice?

If you are seasoned and also possess the gumption; you will have breadth and depth of network, and enough deal awards, and wheeling and dealing experience under your belt to make it a success out there. There are still gaps in Asian markets, and the past avariciousness of the i-bank industry which led to collapse of some institutions has opened up considerable opportunities.

All said, the entrepreneurial route is a challenging one, and not recommended for those without passion for their mission.

I'm finding it tough looking for jobs in Operations or either other field most of the time i visited are Agencie that give no reply after going though their interview and wasting alot my time and cost for traveling to those agencies that located far from my work place.

I'm in operation side too. I got 4 interviews within a month & clinched a job late Feb this year.

I belong to the operation side of banking. I have been job hunting since 2008 till now. I think i am drying up soon. Attended like 5-6 interviews which were absolutely positive but it still the same old waiting game. Btw, is it a norm to be waiting for 1 month plus for jobs belongin to backroom operations in mncs?

gklchan - sellside here is stirring up a little (though not as hot as HK), buyside picking up in HK but absolutely dead here.
