Private banking jobs to be had in Aberdeen

The North Sea oil industry may no longer be the revenue earner it once was, but wealth management and private banking still appear to be in demand in Aberdeen.

The number of private bankers and wealth managers in the city may be relatively small compared with some of the bigger Scottish hubs but it is nevertheless growing, point out recruiters.

"It's not on the scale of what goes on in Edinburgh, Glasgow or even London, but we are definitely beginning to see a trend of organisations wanting to come up here," says Paul Black, a recruiter in Hudson's Aberdeen office.

"It's still pretty small at the moment but I think we will see more organisations coming here over time," he adds.

Some of the bigger banks in particular are in the market for people with local knowledge as well as a wealth management background, agrees Gary Gove of Verridian Recruitment.

"There is demand for people with experience in wealth management and bank assurance rather than just general financial advisory experience, and they would probably need to be based in Aberdeen rather than covering it from, say, Edinburgh or Glasgow," he suggests
