Lunchtime Links: Absolutely enormous hiring planned at Credit Suisse

It emerged this morning that Credit Suisse is planning rather a lot in the way of hiring. According to Bloomberg, chief operating officer David Mathers told a conference that the bank intends to recruit more than 30 new FX sales hires, 20 new people in leveraged finance, 40 people for rates, and 40 people for emerging markets.

Mathers also said he expects M&A to increase in 2010, but made no mention of hiring there. Last year, Credit Suisse made a presentation giving the distinct impression that it would be hiring in equity derivatives, FX, commodities and investment grade debt this year. Some of those plans appear to have changed.
