Former Macquarie Bank trader Oswyn de Silva has been sentenced to nine months' jail, with a minimum of six months without parole, for trying to flee the country when the corporate regulator wanted to question him. De Silva, 36, pleaded guilty to being in contempt of court. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission had imposed travel restrictions on De Silva, but he was stopped by police in Perth on March 1 attempting to flee the country.
