Daily Dispatches: Job adverts on the up, says ANZ

Job advertisements increased in December to their highest level in more than two and a half years, building on the previous month's momentum and adding to recent signs of a strengthening economy. The total number of jobs advertised rose by 6 per cent in December, after a 5.2 per cent increase in November, according to the ANZ Bank's monthly survey. (Sydney Morning Herald)

With many workers now back on board this week, most will be thinking about changing their career or finding a new job. New research released this week reveals more than three quarters of Australians are not happy with their careers and want to change. The survey, conducted by education provider Martin College, also reveals nine per cent of Australians actually hate their jobs. (News.com.au)

Royal Bank of Scotland has fired the starting pistol on the sale of more than 300 branches, giving potential bidders until the end of the month to express an interest. Potential bidders include National Australia Bank, owner of Britain's Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks, and Spanish bank Santander. (The Australian)

Australia's largest general insurer, QBE, is poised to deliver a big recovery in full-year profit following a surge in the performance of one of its big offshore profit spinners. (Herald Sun)
