Lunchtime Links: Citigroup signals possible big hiring in equities

Putting aside its various TARP repayment issues, Citigroup is pushing ahead with what the expansion of its equities sales and trading business.

It's hired Mike Pringle from Merrill Lynch as its head of EMEA equities. According to Financial News, it's all part of the bank's effort to reposition itself in the EMEA market.

Citi's already made various equities hires this year, but recruiters say it's got big gaps in equity research and is expected to continue hiring across the equities business in 2010.
