Lunchtime Links: Cantor and SG promise biggish hiring in the New Year

If you want a new job in 2010 and you work in fixed income, you could do worse than applying to Cantor. Financial News reports that it plans to hire another 100 people in London in 2010, particularly in fixed income. Separately, it says SG has quietly hired 15 senior M&A bankers this year, and fully intends to hire another 15-25 next year, as well as increasing the size of its FIG team and hiring in fixed income.

RBS stinks of losers. Anyone who still works there should be embarrassed.

Oh my goodness, while Australia is a very interesting (and some might say still overlooked) market, it is very over-brokered, be it relative to investor or "other" human population, market cap, pick your metric...you name it, it's beyond saturated. The question is WHY? Not even the "overlooked", "close to Asia" or "commodity stocks" arguments can truly justify another full-scale brokerage opening up. In fact, BarCap's antecedents in the form of BZW pressed the "eject" button on this business!
