Reconstructed CV of $100m trader

Much has been written about Andrew Hall, the head of Phibro's energy trading division Phibro LLC and the percentage deal which will apparently grant him a $100m bonus this year.

Less has been said about English-born Hall arrived in a position where a $100m bonus became a possibility. Unfortunately, Hall has not placed his CV on LinkedIn, or any other public place, so we have reconstructed it here based on what's been written about him elsewhere.

If you want to follow Hall's route to lavish wealth, the key points to note are as follows: go to a well known university (Oxford); get onto a trading graduate scheme - even if it is at an energy firm (BP); join a big name investment bank (Salomon); work your way up within the same firm (even if its owner does change repetitively) and don't lose your nerve when things go wrong (The Wall Street Journal reports that Phibro and possibly therefore Hall had a 'rough patch in 1991, 1992 and 1993).

Maybe it is because chemistry grads would know what the right compounds and geographical make ups would lead to good oil fields and therefore he was able to trade and invest in relatively unknown oil fields thorughout his career and find the ones that turned into winners instead of investing in all the loser cash drains that you find on AIM and PLUS - the title oil trader doesn't simply relate to the IPE trading floor. or maybe thinking laterally and outside of the box is beyond your capability a bit like constructing a sensible paragraph in response to an article
