What, exactly, is wrong with my CV (9)?

I am not a FO recruiter but I work in the FO. In my opinion, there are a few aspects that need to be rectified for this candidate to be in contention for any FO roles in the markets. In particular, there are far, far too many mistakes in the CV and this reflects poorly on the candidate because it either suggests that he cannot master fluent English or that he is not sufficiently detail-oriented, a skill that you would need to work in the frenzied trading room.

In addition, you have, in the main, listed the products you have dealt with in the past and descriptions of your precise role are sparse. Where you have given some details, they do not give the impression you are a very dynamic individual because you tended to use words like "helped in, writing, suggesting elaborating..", which give the impression you were very passive in your previous roles. Instead, you should use words/expressions such as "Responsible for/Participated in...etc"

WOW having re-read the comments of "Analyst" I think there is a serious need for a bit of therapy there. Are you on medication perhaps? You seem very angry.

By the way, what is it with the small minded people on this web site who expect typo free and grammatically correct comments on hastily written postings. Too much time on their hands I think. BC - we both know this is not a "great" CV. By the way I don't work for a recruitment company today, although I did briefly after I graduated in 1996. I've been with the current IB for over 5 years.

The point most of you have missed is the question that poor old frenchy here wants answering ie what is wrong with the cv.

Whilst no doubt you all enjoy a bit of HR/Recruiter bashing, few of you have actually been very honest or in fact contributed to the debate.

To get an interview with my firm today you are going to need to seriously impress my line managers. This CV would not do it.

Alright, FO-r has really gotta listen to what people are saying. Stop posting on matters you have no knowledge about. I suppose we did start off within that date range. Nonetheless, READ what the CV is seeking for. Clearly a junior role in FI sales.

And for a junior role, what more do you expect in terms of experience and work tenure? I do know a few who are seeking similar roles, but guess what. Their CVs are going to look pretty similar. And no one in the business will ask the type of qns you're asking. Irrelevant.

quite simply - you know nothing.

None of the questions you have noted will be even asked, i think you work for some cowboy recruitment firm and have been out of school for a year, thinking you're some hotshot city type. Your lack of experience screams out from your posts.

CV poster - ignore anything from this guy. Your CV is great, it's just cr@ppy times at moment.

It's a good CV. The important thing is to get feedback when you send out your CV (like you are doing now), and if you get polite rejects (due to headcount freeze etc), ask them to send it on to their other peers and network!

I am in a good job with a worse CV than that
