Nama to hire team of tax specialists
The National Asset Management Association (Nama) in Ireland is set to hire a team of tax specialists as it gears up to buy domestic banks' bad loans.
The specialists are to explore the tax implications on the banks when they transfer an estimated €90bn in bad loans to Nama, as well as plan the complex structure of the new 'bad bank'.
"On the direction of the Minister for Finance, the NTMA is seeking to appoint a tax adviser to provide tax advice in relation to the establishment of Nama and to assist the NTMA in its preparatory work in structuring Nama, including the framing of governing legislation," said a spokesperson.
