More jobs created at Tesco Personal Finance
Tesco Personal Finance seems to be making a single-handed attempt to cut through the gloom surrounding the Scottish banking sector, and has now said it intends to recruit a further 250 people for its Edinburgh HQ.
The banking operation of the supermarket giant revealed a 244m profit for 2008 and underwent an initial recruitment phase for its new Edinburgh HQ.
Now, it's expanding even more north of the border and has plans to create 200 jobs in its financial products division in Edinburgh.
"There is a lot of opportunity for expansion in Scotland," said the group's chairman David Reid.
These plans to beef up the head office in Edinburgh follow TPF's announcement that it intends to hit the high street, creating up to 30 branches by the end of 2009.
Benny Higgins, chief executive of Tesco Personal Finance says (perhaps not surprisingly), they've had no shortage of applicants.
"We have continued to attract some of the best talent from across the industry, both from within Scotland and from those looking to move here for the right opportunity - there is a real enthusiasm among our staff for being based in Edinburgh," he said.
