$200k to work for Goldman Sachs in Ireland?
Goldman Sachs Bank (Europe), the Dublin-based deposit taking and hedge fund admin arm of the US giant, has had a very good 2008 indeed. And, it seems, it pays very well to work there.
In its first substantial trading period over the 57 weeks to December 2008, the bank managed to post revenue of over $59m in operating income and its assets under management swelled to nearly $8bn.
One of the more surprising elements to its 2008 filing was the fact that it spend over $12.2m on just 55 staff. This works out as average compensation of $222.4k.
However, $1.2m of this was paid to the directors of the company, which still leaves a rather hefty average of around $200k.
This is unlikely to be divided equally, however, as just three staff work in sales and trading within the firm, with the remaining 52 in support, finance, operations and technology roles.
