Time to quantify the difference between pay for men and women?
This is what Harriet Harman is proposing with her new gender pay audits.
Due for implementation by 2013, the audits will require all companies with more than 250 staff to reveal how much they pay men compared to women.
Calculations will probably be based on average hourly rates, but will include bonuses, which were 79% lower for women than men, according to the Times.
