Shore Capital wants sales people and researchers in Edinburgh

Edinburgh investment house Shore Capital seems to be hiring. Having opened an Scottish office last October and recruited half a dozen staff, it's looking for more and says this is the "best opportunity we have ever had" to persuade City talent to make the move north of the border.

"If more people became available in the capital markets area and want to live and work in Edinburgh rather than London we will talk to them," says Howard Shore, founder and chairman of the firm.

The Scottish branch focuses on selling products and offering research to local clients, including fund managers and any new hiring is likely to focus on sales and research staff.

The emphasis appears to be on former Scots who migrated to the City. Shore told the Scotsman that the Edinburgh office -

"...should be a place where we continue to attract talented individuals who had perhaps been working in the City but want to move back north of the Border for whatever reason. We have room to expand."

If you don't fancy Edinburgh, Shore is also expanding in Liverpool.

Boutique investment firms in Scotland have provided some much-need hiring activity recently, albeit in obviously small numbers.

For instance, earlier this month Brewin Dolphin Investment Banking recruited Tracy MacKenzie as director of the resources franchise in Edinburgh as well as appointing Alex McCambridge as associate director in Glasgow.

Noble, the Scottish investment group, was also expanding towards the tail end of last year, as well as forming an investment management advisory board consisting of 11 local business leaders.

Ummh - strangely defensive and rude. PS - I run a well known fund and know A LOT! I've made enquires, if you're CV comes through for positions we have advertised, I'll know to file it where it belongs, in the bin.

Problem would be working for Shore... Decent staff are not rewarded well. Get references from your clients before moving. Not a happy place to work many insiders / the market say.
