I mentioned my other internships, as well as my gap year in china where I volunteered in an orphanage. The interviewer seemed to be particularly interested in my gap year, and I felt he was impressed that I had an active commitment to volunteering.

I mentioned how Morgan Stanley was different to other banks in the same league, the usual really: culture, M&A, etc. I had also carried out an insight programme with MS and mentioned this to reinforce my examples.

What is the UK interest rate?

Candidate's answer

My interview was in October, the month where interest rates were slashed by 0.5%. Thankfully I knew the answer, but I also built upon this figure by demonstrating that I understood what the implications of this rate cut would be.
