JPMorgan, Paris: Private wealth management (long-term internship)

Question

Why private banking?

Candidate's answer

I started a rather clumsy explanation about how much I liked to serve clients. I was definitely not prepared enough for this question. So I recommend you really put the finishing touches to your motivation speech.

Question

Rank all the financial products from the safest to the most risky.

Candidate's answer

I answered bonds/shares/vanilla derivatives/exotic derivatives. I had forgotten investment funds. The question was a bit tricky as I had to think of all the financial items I knew and then rank them.

Question

What triggered the financial crisis?

Candidate's answer

I talked about sub-prime mortgages and how they had been exported through financial products. The interviewer emphasised securitisation.

Question

Do you speak English? Do you speak Spanish?

Candidate's answer

Both languages were on my CV (most of the interview was in French). I just spoke some words of Spanish and maybe 5 minutes of English which was considered fine.

Question

Quote 4 of your qualities and 4 of your flaws.

Candidate's answer

I said that 4 was a lot and negotiated 3 of each. I said I was efficient, open-minded and ambitious. But I was also proud (won't tell this one anymore), a little bit shy and too demanding (one of the interviewers pointed out that the latter was very classical/convenient for interviews).

These questions were provided to us by a candidate claiming to have interviewed at the institution named above. We cannot guarantee that these were the actual questions asked.
