Describe a time when you have had to complete a number of important tasks within a tight deadline.
Why are they asking this? This is a question that has to be asked as firms in the financial services sector thrive on a frenetic pace, where every task is just as important as the next one. Proving that you can keep a cool head, prioritise and make important decisions rationally but at speed is essential. And, to be honest, if you don't possess these particular traits this world probably isn't the right one for you anyway!
How should you answer? Think carefully before choosing an example to illustrate your answer. Anything too simplistic and your case will seem a little flimsy. At the same time don't over complicate things. What you need to do is set the scene very briefly e.g. how much time you had before the deadline in question and what had to be achieved by then. Clearly state how you prioritised each task and what your rationale was behind this.
And what mistakes should you avoid? Lots of candidates make the mistake of thinking this is just a 'dot to dot' answer of what you did and when. But actually, this particular question is a great opportunity to show lateral thinking. Any creative short cuts you came up with or bright ideas should be emphasised.
