Barclays Adds Banking Sector Heads
Barclays Capital said it hired James J. Paris from Deutsche Bank to head its paper and packaging banking group, based in New York.
As a managing director in the leveraged finance group at Deutsche Bank, he originated, executed and structured transactions for financial sponsors and corporate clients in the paper and packaging sector.
Paris began his career as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. He received a law degree from Harvard Law School and a B.S. in finance from Indiana University.
Barclays has recently expanded its investment banking coverage in key industry sectors. In addition to paper and packaging, the firm has increased coverage in power, healthcare, retail and industrials, leading to a number of senior appointments. Most have been to its New York team, and include bankers specializing in product categories across debt, equity and M&A.
Earlier this month, the bank hired Thomas R. Rosén from Bank of America to lead its power industry coverage team and former Bear Stearns banker Trace McCreary as head of U.S. infrastructure finance. Rosén had led B of A's natural resouces M&A group. McCreary was most recently an infrastructure banker in Bear Stearns' global industries group, and previously covered industrials for Credit Suisse and Citigroup.
In June Barclays upgraded its health care group by bringing on three senior bankers in healthcare services, medical technology and pharmaceuticals.
