Are you a fat kitten?

Alongside its usual fare of scantily clad females and men baring expensive watches, Arena magazine claims to have unearthed a new phenomenon in investment banks: the fat kitten.

Unlike ageing fat cats, fat kittens are apparently bankers of "tender years" and "portly appearance", caused by years of "old school indolence, financed by years of excessive bonuses and inordinate stress levels in the office".

JPMorgan and KPMG are cited kitten breeding grounds - despite Jamie Dimon's decision to reopen the bank's gyms and sponsor a fat employee to lose weight. Research released earlier this year suggested financial services professionals are more likely to be overweight than those in other industries.

Is Arena onto something? Does banking cause corpulence? And is podginess perfectly ok when you're taking home a six-figure pay cheque? Chew the fat below.

The fat kittens working in banking were already fat prior to entering the world of banking or were simply pre-disposed to developing lovehandles ... banking has nothing to do with it...

stand up to your boss and admit you're not superman
/woman after a 14h day! it's unproductive and will only damage your health. A fitness regime will not only do good to your arteries but also improve productivity by diminishing stress levels...

Sex and Sport will keep you good looking. 15 hours work, allnighter, too much stress and rubbish/fast food wont. But the key point is when and how to practise sport (and sex.!!-not paying ehh) in the city.

Honestly, its hard work, I have a job in a software house and match your hours. I'm lucky because naturally slim, but I have learned a few tricks over the years. Eat the right food. Oats (that the edible variety) with a couple of fruits for breakfast, apples are good currently. Eat your main meal at lunch time - hard I know, but M&S do a great range of good healthy food. If you eat plenty of the right food at lunch time, you will burn it off by the time you leave. Don't eat after 8pm unless you are sure you are going to burn it off and with your 15 hour days you might need to top up your food intake around 6pm, try cheese oat biscuits and some more fruit. Anthony Warrell Thompson wrote a great book on low GMO. I know its hard work and you probably are not into reading cook books, but it will tell you the foods you should be eating. Walk whenever you can. And see if you can jog or swim once a week, take the family. Good Luck.
