Hansen will spearhead the firm's efforts to expand content offered to customers. He will also concentrate on developing third-party partnerships to combine unique content and global data.
Hansen will be based in Chicago, and report to Townsend Analytics chief executive Jeff Wecker.
Townsend Analytics has been reorganized into four separate service lines since being absorbed by Lehman Brothers: trading, content data, exchange, and risk management. Last month, Townsend recruited a new head of trading services.
A spokeswoman for the firm said the firm plans to make additional hires in the near future as it plans to grow its data, news and analytic content.
