Shore Capital to hire in London and Berlin
Boutique investment bank and fund manager Shore Capital is looking to add staff across sales, trading and research in London, and is hiring for its new Berlin office.
Graham Shore, managing director, said the company is open to hiring opportunistically when the right candidates come up. "Strategically we're interested in expanding the range of sectors we cover," he adds. "Media might be a possibility, as might support services."
Yesterday the company revealed a near doubling in pre-tax profits during the first half of the year. According to the Financial Times this was largely thanks to the strong performance of its equity-related investment banking business.
Shore says the company has added ten people to its equity capital markets team over the past year, bringing the new total to 60 out of around 80 employees across the company as a whole.
The company is also hiring 10 people for a new office in Berlin. "We've recruited five or six already," says Shore. "Most of those are property rather than investment banking professionals. For the other openings we'd like to find someone with a mixture of M&A and corporate finance experience, and possibly also someone with a structured finance background."
He says the allure of working for the company is all down to its dynamism and easy-going culture: "We try to be innovative and we're fairly focused on achieving results - if you're a doer and you're ambitious, this is the place for you. Plus we don't take ourselves too seriously."
