Macquarie to hire bankers for Asia

Macquarie Bank is looking to hire a number of investment bankers in the Asia-Pacific region to boost its underwriting and takeover business in the region.

"We're expanding in Beijing and Tokyo," deputy managing director Richard Sheppard told Bloomberg, although he declined to say how many bankers would be hired.

Macquarie currently employs about 1,200 people in 11 Asian countries, a third of whom are investment bankers, Bloomberg reports.
