St. James's Place to hire at least 35
UK wealth manager St. James's Place is to expand its sales force by 5% this year. The firm, which is 60% owned by HBOS Plc, has already upped its headcount by 2% in the first half of this year to 1,170.
Company chairman Mike Wilson told Reuters "It would be very easy to increase sales force numbers by 10%, if we weren't so rigorous with regard to our standards. We're only interested in taking on people that will fit in with our model."
Wilson's rigour appears to be paying off. The firm has just experienced its strongest ever quarter for new business sales, with revenues from new clients climbing 55%.
