City of London financiers are first choice in Dubai
People who've worked in London are the favourites of banks hiring in Dubai, says one recruiter.
David Howell, managing director of recruitment firm EM Group, which plans to open a Dubai office later this year, says employers in the emirate favour migrants from the City of London over those from other jurisdictions.
"The quality of the financial services skills base in the UK means people from London can often command a premium," says Howell. "Bankers from the City are the favourites, followed by those from Continental Europe and then the Indian subcontinent."
A survey of UK bank employees on EM's database revealed 8% were either very keen or keen to work in Dubai, says Howell. This represents more than 10,000 people.
