ABN boosts emerging markets securitisation team

Investment bank ABN AMRO has marked its commitment to growing its London securities team in the appointment of Gary Watmore in the newly created role of head of emerging markets asset backed securitization.

Watmore was transferred from the bank's Singapore office, where he was head of Asian asset backed securitization, FinanceAsia.com reports.

Gareth Thomas, ABN Amro's global head of emerging markets, told eFinancialCareers there are no plans to make additional hires immediately, but staff may yet be added six months down the line. "We think emerging markets securitisation is a big growth area," he said.

Watmore will be responsible for defining and constructing all of the banks emerging market ABS business in Asia, Latin America and other emerging markets.
