US custody staff heading to the UK
Where's the best place to build a career in custody? For at least some U.S. custodians, it's the UK.
Brian Drum, managing director of New York based recruitment firm Drum Associates, says there are plenty of US custodians who would relish the idea of a move to London, Scotland, or Ireland.
The move is most popular with mid and senior level employees, he says: "People tend to move after 3-5 or 15-20 years of experience."
The Financial News reported recently that several US custody staff have emigrated to the UK. Bank of New York, for example, has given increasing power to its UK office and moved across big guns from the US such as Tim Keaney, to take charge.
